Soul Speak
This morning, the soul longing hit that
I needed to hear classical music
sometimes, I am unable to stop everything
and tend to the intense desire
but this morning I was able to
just sit back and soak it in
The opening strands to the Mozart piece
that I have listened to many times
and played almost as many
washed over me
and brought a sense of calm and joy
that nothing else brings
As the complicated, yet catchy melody
goes through the many key changes
that the brilliant composer beautifully
constructed, I feel a sense of awe
that this man that lived so long ago
created this soul touching music
As the magic of music soothes my soul
and at the same time, energizes me,
I am grateful that God instilled in me
the talent and love of music that keeps
me moving forward and able to find joy
on even the hardest days
