Soon

Soon

We spent many years together, growing up as family.

Then something happened and the Lord decided he needed me.

You cried and screamed"Lord, how could you, just how could this be?"

All the memories and emotions came alivewhen you took one last look

             at me.

I want to tell you, I watch you morning, night and noon.

I am saving a place in heaven for you and we will be together soon.

So put a smile on your face and daily run your race.

When the tears start to come remember, we will be together soon.

This is definitely what I'd call "bittersweet." How clever and unusual, to write from the persona of the deceased loved one. Her love for the living is clear in every line. Especially powerful: "I want to tell you, I watch you..." and her funny advice to smile and "run your race." This is touching on so many levels. Thank you for sharing it!
