Soon

Again, there will be water - Soon!
In sleep - the deaf silence
reminded me - last night
a leaf withered...
It reminded me of the vase
In which we were the three of us
Dreaming a dream with dew
Sipping from the month of May...
...and little by little my stem
withered in distress
and my painful leaves
found an excuse in Death...

Again, there will be water - Soon!
With little, gentle handfuls
the Life's cup is filling
with crystals of desire
I dream a hopeful dream
regenerating roots
There is the water - plenty
and Oxygen enough...

Deep and powerful, wonderful that a child could write this, but, I also wrote as a child and sometimes I scared my parents with the power in my words, they used to say, how could a child have so much depth in her soul, I wonder did you parents understand your poetry?

I share the same thoughts as you in having 50 entries contest. I have expressed my thoughts on this in my poem, Quo Wadis Poetry, a damsel in distress posted today.

Yes, Alyssa. At 13. I have my red little note book here with me. Wow, all the pages neglected and yellowed by time...Carolyn, there was a drought of the soul in an over-controlled society.

Iolanda, what an impressive write at only 13. It would seem you are a born poet with talent like this...It is beautiful and touches the soul. Aloha, Connie
