Sons

I have two sons
Both tall, blonde and handsome
With personalities different as night and day

Noah’s intellect is scary
Even as a small child he could figure out
Not only how things work but why they work
I smile and nod a lot like I have a clue
His humor! The right word at exactly the right time
It’s killer

My younger son is Josh
His heart is as deep and wide as the ocean
He’s a football jock. He enjoys pushing himself
Harder and longer just for fun.
Nothing in this world will be out of his reach
Due to his sheer determination

I have two very special friends
That can be described as pure love
My love for them is deep and powerful
No matter the problem, no matter the danger
I’ll always be there for them

But if I had to choose to save them
With the lives of one of my sons
No matter how much I love them
The task could not be done

So I ask you now my Father
For we so desperately wicked
How did you send your Son
To pay the price of our selfish sins
I don’t understand it
I will never understand

How much is your love for us all

Hi Laurie, I have a son. Like you, I could give my everything, even my own life for his sake. Children are God's blessings, worthy to be treasured and cherished. They are ours' not until their princess will come and claim theirs'. Ernilando

Ms Lady, This is wonderfully written and expressed with the deepest love and warmth.. I have a little girl, she's all I have but if I had more children I know I could never choose ever...and his love is unfailing, undeniable, everlasting and complete..It is because he loves us so much that he made that sacrifice..His kind of love...goes beyond our kind of love...He is truly Wonderful. Beautiful dedication to your boys, they are a blessing to you as you are to them...Just Lovely..xoxoxoxo, Tyesha

This is great poetry. It reminds me of Reznikoff and how he used autobiography to create outstanding poetry. Like this he did it by paying attention to the requirements of poetry. The word use here seems to be a straight-forward but it rises well above the ordinary because of the structure of each stanza and the individuals words that chime with each other, like bells, providing a celebratory feeling.

Laurie, such a powerful write. I could never choose between my two children either. What mother or father could? I will never understand either, but, what a last line you left us with. This write leaves me speechless. Happy, beautiful Easter to you and yours. Love, Shar

Laurie first off this is one of the best spiritual writes I have read. Secondly I also have two sons and I don't think I could either. I just pray we are never put to that test, like Abraham. A very thought provoking write, God Bless my friend, Ron

An awesome write, Laurie! Your love for your sons cannot be overshadowed by your love for your friends but, as you point out so clearly, God so willingly sacrificed his Son to save our souls. God bless you for sharing this brilliant write! (And your sons sound like wonderful young men who bring you great joy.) Love, Carolyn

Dear Lauie Ginn...so often you speak my heart...and once again, you say what I have often felt...how could one choose? My two sons,... and throw a daughter in the mix, my children...all so different, all so precious....as their mother, it is beyond ours to understand that kind of sacrifice. This wonderful poem expresses the gift He gave us all.
