Sonnet To Doubt
Under the moonlight on unsteady legs,
A lady fell while walking her sweet dog;
Before she walked she had ardently prayed
That God would keep her from a nighttime fall.
In her pain and shattered nerves she would ask,
“Why didn’t you answer – I prayed before!”
Then she realized it was His desire
She fall in the way of a fleshly world.
For He did send an angel to her side
To shove her away from the hard cement.
She would land in pillow soft border grass,
Unhurt, still holding her little dear friend.
Did He need to let the firemen who came
Use their dull evening for kindness and love
