Sonnet On Vladimir Putin

This satanic one lives in a dark, lonely place He’s thoroughly engrossed in pelfishness, Utterly devoid of virtue, principle, and grace He is lounging in narcissism and selfishness. While he views other leaders with disdain, Claiming his greatness with disgusting ego He clearly cares only for what is his domain And those who recognize it will rate him a zero. V. Putin -- of such pitiful, unenviable nature, Alone in his well-protected, Moscow capitol Fearing for his life, his most prominent feature, While his smirking arrogance is quite classical. Despicable, this loathsome, murderous creature He’s even worse than a hypocritical preacher!

I agree, Milt. People like him make their own rules, sadly, there are too many like him that obey them.

Unfortunately, Shirley, this is true. If Russia is an oligarch, which I suspect it is, then he will soon fall out of favor with those who prop him up. The sooner, the better.

You've discribed him well Milton, my discription of him would get me banned. The horrors that man has inflicted on men, women and children, any sane person could never forgive him. I hope that they find enough evidence to charge him with war crimes and lock him up for the rest of his miserable life. They say if Ukraine can hold out for another two weeks then the tide may turn against him. Tom

I certainly agree with everything you have so thoughtfully pointed out, Tom. I'm just hopeful that Ukraine can beat down the army to the point where he has to call it off to lose face. However, losing face probably isn't in his vocabulary.

Indeed Milton, Putin is far worse than any hypocritical preacher, he’s basically an uncharismatic psychopath, every bar of the smirking Stalin, how these uncaring narcissists come to power in the first place is usually down to corruption and collusion with folks of the same ilk, well written sonnet, cheers David

Thank you so much, David, for your read and for your well-thought-out comments on people who become miserable, evil satanic dictators. I appreciate it.

How can we judge who is evil and who is not? Your sonnet beautifully written but I feel that the news and what they want the narrative to be is what they reveal....God only knows, who are we to judge? War is ugly and the lives being lost are criminal....only wish Zelensky and Putin were on the front lines instead of putting their minions to do their dirty work. :)Paulette

I never judge, Paulette, but I do observe, and any person who invades a sovereign country in this fashion without regard for the lives of the innocents can be appropriately described as evil, in my humble opinion. Thanks for your thoughts, Paulette. Since the beginning of time, I think, leaders have made wars and the citizenry has fought them. Sad, I think!
