Sonnet For a Teddy Bear

Softer than the touch of silk
More calming than the sea
Better than a glass of milk
And a batch of fresh, warm cookies
Sweeter than the sound of rain
On a tin roof in the country
Erasing briefly all my pain
The teddy bear that hugs me
More exuberant than a burning fire
Tamed and then gone wild
Easy kindness brings desire
If only for a little while
And I don’t want to bring and end
To comfort given by a friend
