Somewhere

"Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue," A radio plays where the curtains withdrew Her distant voice drifts from another room, Drizzling drops still fall and dark clouds loom In another place, another day, another time, The house was new and the weather sublime Winds whistle through windows broken, Singing along with the lyrics spoken Echoing from somewhere with hope anew, "Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue."

Hi Kelly - your poem drips with poignancy, wonderful imagery and ends with hope. The references to The Wizard of Oz are beautifully integrated. Poetry has me overthinking sometimes but that's its beauty for me. I'd like to think the curtains mentioned could be a reference to the curtains the 'wizard' hid behind before being found out. (maybe not) Of course your words go deeper than that. The personification of the wind singing, the human emotion mirrored by the dark clouds. Great! Cheers - Gary

I enjoyed this melancholy piece Kelly, sometimes it seems like our dreams are just out of reach "somewhere beyond the rainbow". Nicely done. John
