Notes About The Poem

Sometimes We Don'T Get a Chance To Say Goodbye

sometimes
we don't get a chance
to say goodbye

you sit there
tears in your eyes
wondering why

and

it don't make sense
to be strong
because it stings

you can't explain
the pain each
memory brings

and

the guilt
of stupidity
leads to regret

images
in your mind
mean you can't forget

sadly

stubborn to reach out
means feelings
are not heard

spite leads to
unanswered questions
no last word

and

its not them
knocking at the door
they can't call

there is no point
saying sorry
to the wall

because

sometimes
we don't get a chance
to say goodbye

you sit there
tears in your eyes
wondering why

It's my pleasure reading one of your many poems. :) You mentioned in your comeback poem that you were here on this site before and has been writing for quite sometime. I acknowledge your presence here, Silent One. I also acknowledge everyone's participation, only that I don't know everybody here. :) I'm just new on poetrysoup when I wrote my first poem sometime in September of last year. I'm honored to meet you today! You don't have to reply, if you don't find it necessary. Hi to Everyone! :)

This is another gem and rings true. Sometimes we don't get the chance to say goodbye and that's just a part of life. A sad part. There won't be any "goodbyes" in heaven you know! Love and prayers for you, Gina

Wow such a moving read. It doesn't make sense to be strong because it stings...touched by true emotions. Stubborn to reach out...ah so very true. A very brilliant and inspiring read. I' ve lived these moments...sorry to the wall. You deliver cleverly and the emotions pour down the page. Gripping!

I have lived in these moments where I never said goodbye or I just walked out without telling the person that I won't return ...I guess , we are strangers at times . Your words are very loud and clear even though your name is' silent one '..and I am glad that you're here ..hugs ~red

So that it doesn't happen, it's good to always view the people around you with the awareness of how fragile their existences are.

Great Write Silent.I guess in some way I feel like I never said goodbye to my dad...I was only 3 when he was killed in a car accident, so I don't really remember it, or him. It's all good though, I know I will see him again :) Have good week :)

This poem is so emotional and really tugs my heart-strings. I never got to say good=bye to someone too. But, I know their spirit lives and knows how much I loved him and I'm sure it's true for you too. Hugsss.........

Why does separation come? So hard do bear. Even if you say Good Bye, grief is no less. Best Wishes to you always

Yes, we wonder why people leave our lives. I have lost touch with people I didn't want to lose touch with. Tears may be the result of such losses - as you point out in this work. Best Matthew Anish

Much truth to your poem, Silent One. Is it based on personal experience? As for my poem, what bars do men (or women) go to for meditative purposes? I know of none. What I like about humorous verse is that it doesn't have to be true to life to get a laugh. Best to you. / M

It is not a personal poem.. I believe there are bars in Amsterdam, or cafes, should I say that people go to for such things..
