Sometimes Love Deceives

when i close my eyes
your memory seeps
with the remora of mind

i can feel your breath
sigh with night's air
as the draught from your stare
allures me in the depths
of your umber eyes

the horripilation of flesh
erupts beneath your touch
as i rise and fall
within the cimmerian shade
that night often brings

i awake
trembling
in mind's glimpse
yet you still linger
in the corner
of bluest depths
trickling
down
like soft rain
upon my lips
as memories
seep

Congratulations on your win. A good memory or a bad one is what life is made up of. It is better to keep the good ones and let the bad ones go. I know that can be easier said than done. I have lived it. Have a blessed day and weekend........

Such beautiful and stunning imagery, Sandra - "trickling down like soft rain upon my lips," - so visual and sensory. Congratulations on your first place win my friend. Hugs and prayers.

I applaud your outstanding imagery, Sandra, as well as the feel you relayed so succinctly without specifics due to the creative imagery, and I LOVE the touch of rhyme within your free verse. All and all, I really most sincerely and quite clearly love your poem! Poetry hugs ... CayCay

The darkness of night sometimes brings back vivid memories of past relationships both good and bad. This is a wonderful description of such a memory, Sandy. Beautifully penned my friend. John

Memories always come to life most vivid in the dark ... sometimes you have to ask how something so beautiful can turn so bad ... hugs :)

Wondous writing dearest, Sandra. True love never deceives but we deceive ourselves when we mistake something as true love! Bless you!
