Sometimes, I Listen

I tell myself
You look pretty good ( for your age!)
Get out and live, take a chance

I tell myself
Those french fries won’t hurt
                 That salt’s not a problem
Get up and dance

That ice cream’s not fattening
                That chocolate’s not bad
That burgers okay  
Well what can I say

I tell myself
You can do it, you can make it
But best of all is that
                       Sometimes, I listen

Such positive self assurance is needed to make life lighter especially at a time when we feel that we are growing older. Too many restrictions will only make life miserable ! Enjoyed your poem with a pinch of humor, Mike.

Oh my, I could really relate to this, Mike. I am supposed to watch my intake of all those things, but I find myself rationalizing from time to time. Oh, just a pinch of salt won't hurt. You know the routine. I hate to be denied anything at my age (80), but I know I need to be more careful. Hope you have a terrific week, my friend.
