Sometimes I Like To Go Walking

Sometimes I like to go walking
In search of a quiet place
To free myself for a little while
From the entanglements of this race.
Occasionally, I find myself, running
In circles of modern-day-dreams;
Making ends meet in the fields or the streets
Is indubitably more difficult than it seems.
On the surface so simple and easy:
Do your duty and follow the crowd;
Be there on time and eventually you’ll find
Success, if you’re lucky somehow. Sometimes
I like to go walking
In search of a quiet place
Where trees grow high way up to the sky
And the winds pass gentle on my face. Still looking
Towards the illusively fading horizon ahead
Outward bound beauty beyond
Imagination’s Siren call I’m led.
Into the streets past cars and buses
Towards rivers wide with railroad trusses. Crossing over
Shore to shoreline, present to past,
Today, tomorrow, slow to fast. Following
That still small voice within, sometimes
I like to go walking now and then.

A remarkably lovely write this is dear friend Terry. I know this feeling as I used to go on similar walks, very very late at night around 1 AM or so, when the roads were less crowded. With my slippers off, I walked bare footed on the lush green grass on the footpath that seperated the the highway, taking the cool breeze head on. Obviously, I cant do that any more given the security situation in my country. But your poem rejuvenates that same feeling in me and makes me want to do it again. Thanks for sharing this one Terry. Nothing like a poem such as this to start your day here. thanks, Hussain

This is like a waltz soaring and dipping through the atmosphere in a dream. I do this walk every day Terry and sometimes take my book along to catch the inspiration. I love where your mind takes me.
