Sometime Always Never
If ever there were words to capture ways
our language casts a doubt at every turn;
too many fall within this verbal maze
and more to join with each and all that's learned.
If "always" happened there would be no need
to wonder if a precious love would last,
nor warnings of impending doom to heed,
if all that we desired came to pass.
But "sometime" takes us to a thoughtful pause
where hasty indiscretion scars our path
and life has shown us that there are no laws
except that fate can always wield its wrath.
And "never's" for the future to decide;
impossible is "always" 'til it's tried.
