VBT Practice 90 of 112 We being in a bind Of limited identity-mind We do not negate Rather we cooperate! We make no fuss We go where thoughts take us In the external As well as in the internal In the ethereal Or the feral No self criticism We oscillate with the pendulum There is however one condition In following the ego suggestion We see Shiva in each vibration In all nuances of fullness or cessation If Shiva be everywhere, where may ego reside For a Shiva is both outside as well as inside Ego has no place to hide So ceasing to measure & size It does noiselessly vaporise 11-October-2020 Notes: VBT stands for Vijnana Bhairava Tantra. It is said to be a dialogue between God Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Parvati asks Shiva the way to freedom from duality and limitation. Shiva then elucidates not one but 112 meditation tools for God realisation. The poem summarises the 90th of the 112 ‘ meditation methods’, as understood by the poet ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reverse hypnosis We are here God too is near Closer than our skin He resides in us within Enlivening our form By breath warm Yet here we are With desires spar Mirrored by dark fears Competing with our peers Until we exit the rat race Slow down our pace Thoughts arise Beheld in surprise Part of the game divine What meaning may we assign To dance of Shiva enigmatic Fluttering heart ecstatic We cease to size As bliss currents rise Seeing God everywhere Sidestepping ego borne snare Our lower mind disappears Lo behold, God appears 07-October-2021 SOMETHING OLD SOMETHING NEW Poetry Contest Sponsor: John Lawless
