Something From Nothing
I often have to wonder
Why some pretend to know
That life emerged from nothing,
Twelve billion years ago.
When you try to envision,
How nothing might appear;
Your every thought is something,
And the truth becomes clear.
Your mind can draw no reference,
For how nothing might seem.
It cannot be imagined,
Nor witnessed in a dream.
For it is non-existence,
Absence of everything.
Without something to start from,
You can't create a thing.
That leads to one conclusion,
Which some have resisted.
The force that created us,
Has always existed.
There would always be nothing,
If it had ever been.
Which indicates that something
Had no way to begin.
For beginnings and endings
Are reflections of time.
While that, which is eternal,
Is boundless and sublime.
Eternity is timeless,
Completely unconfined.
And science can’t imagine,
What cannot be defined.
If something is eternal,
It’s the same everywhere.
There would be no expansion,
And no dimensions there.
No empty space in-between
Each dying galaxy,
No universal center,
Or source of gravity.
Human thought is limited,
To what it can explain.
Science never looks beyond,
The laws of its domain.
But there is another force,
At work within this realm.
Which time cannot keep in check,
And space can’t overwhelm.
It is called self-awareness:
“Sentient Energy.”
It is the force that gives you
Your personality.
Why would the eternal force,
That brought fourth everything,
Including self-awareness,
be lacking anything?
If sentience were absent
From the creative force,
How could it exist in us,
If there were not a source?
For without the building blocks,
It simply would not be.
Only a discerning mind
Is wise enough to see,
That our universe exists,
Without reason or rhyme.
For everything within it,
Is bound by space and time.
A logical conclusion
Is where one must arrive.
We can’t credit happenstance
For why we are alive.
If you think my points are wrong,
Then you must prove one thing.
prove to me exactly how
Something came from nothing.
