Someone Be Gentle
We were young together not long ago
The world was much younger than it is now
Our love was special and more is the woe
That age erases memories somehow
Someone be gentle to her when I'm gone
She was somethin' to see back in the day
She is older now as her life goes on
The laughter's not there - there's little to say
She spoke "chat" to grey squirrels and blue jays
And she could talk back to a raven's caws -
Now she is broken in so many ways
But she can still smile at a kitten's paws
Someone be gentle to her when I'm gone
She doesn't know that her life will go on
