My daughter is my greatest gift on earth
It's been this way since day I gave her birth
T'will be this way till day I close my eyes
and silent lie beneath the starry skies
Yet while I live, I'll treasure her embrace,
and thank the Lord for touching her with grace
I'll be content in knowledge that she's near
To sweetly calm my worry with her cheer
I'll let her guide my feeble faltering frame
What joy I feel when calling out her name
This time that's left to me, her smile will bless
I long to see her glow in wedding dress
And once my girl is settled, free from strife
When she leaves home to be a loving wife
I'll pray to see her children, every one
Then it won't matter if my days are done
For some things never change, I'm sure you see
My love for her will match eternity
A daughter is a piece of heaven's best
When she's secure and loved, my heart can rest
Eileen Manassian
To my daughter, Shereen Nataly Ghali, with all my love
