Some Escape, Some Don'T

There are brushes with death that we all have I’d guess That survivors don’t notice (their eyes on the future, Not bridges they’ve crossed.) Spans collapse with lives lost That might well have been yours but for giftings of chance. Did you top off your tank and escape the car’s crash That flew over a concrete divider’s protection And crushed a whole family (seconds ahead) In the lane you were in, till you changed, watched them pass! Might a multiverse purpose a kinder largesse Where no life gets extinguished before time, adventure Continues but on other planes, no spark crossed Off life’s list, no smile’s glow (that God gifts with a dance?) Might some self-proclaimed Christians consider me brash For just asking this question, am I misdirection That threatens the saved? Let such hubris be dead! Who can judge with God’s voice? Sheep flocks lie on green grass; Their thirst quench with sweet water; desire finds its fill. May what virtue I muster earn praise for God’s name’s sake. Earth lies in death’s shadow, and viral hate’s wrath, Though provisions of Science and Grace prove their worth And give comfort! Faith feasts at Love’s table with room For detractors, Your Grace both anoints, makes us Holy, Your Blessings redress all who walk in Your Way. Let us live in your house as we live for your heart! If our home is one Nation, should States pay the bill For Trump’s impotent failure to recognize outbreak Of COVID on world scene? Trump balks at the math For the pain he’s inflicted. Rome burns, next the earth, But all Trump sees are bargains. He thirsts for saint’s doom! Watch his minions all praise his pursuit of such folly. Hear Eastwood’s terse drawl, “Come on, Punk! Make my day!” Watch Trump play-act our Pres., like his peers, more poop tart! Long Tooth April 26th in 2020
