Solitude

Cold frosty chilly night air creeps
Over my skin in a shiver,
The moon wanes away so forlorn
In a sad solitude alone.

The eerie street lamp in the mist
Confers a solitary light,
I stand in front by the walkway
Alone with loneliness and damp.

Not a soul stirs on suburb street
Except me dumping garbage here,
I can see the neighbour's dark porch
For no one is at home right now.

Six-thirty on Thursday feels dark
As the autumn dusk comes early,
Here the equinox flings surprise
As darkness drapes the warm sunshine.

The black cat with the bushy tail
Waltzes into a feisty view,
A territorial gaze transmutes
Caution stranger, city dweller!

Here by this house we live a lease
Far from the crowded city lights,
A sojourn of a trip away
From our old peculiar fixtures.
