Soldier

She laid down her rifle
Then dropped to her knees
The long war was over
She still felt no peace

So many lives taken
But at whose expense
In society it's expected
In God's eyes it's sin

The battle was long fought
She did what was her job
But deep in her heart and soul
She knows it is wrong

She'll be hailed a hero
Maybe make the news
But forever in her spirit
She'll be haunted by all of them
