Solace

I die a thousand deaths every day
And regrets come rolling over me
Like waves crashing on jagged reefs
I mourn not the things lost to me
I grieve over my foolishness
Of how I could be so naïve
How people came and went their way
The rock that I am
I chose to stay
I grieve over my wishes
Lo! I'm the one left behind
Can't walk on water
The Nile won't part for me
Now I sit and beg this world to return
The pieces of what I used to be
