Society's Pomp
Often, people think themselves as objects
like remodeled decor hyped for exhibition...
they wear glittered masks and live
in the affirmation of others through false pride,
consumed by society's materialistic demands.
I notice pretentious vogue glossed with aging skin :
and when compelled to be like them—
ballroom furniture and power- hungry clowns--
I awaken my inner child, lithesome and more excited at
star-gazing than imitating worldly, rusted pomp.
