The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

So Near yet still so Far

These old memories and desires in my
lonely heart have never made me feel
alone since we have been apart,
I have searched and searched but
never thought it was in vain,
To soothe my tortured soul, the sweet
and treasured moments from our time
together were dissected part by part,
But now, time has brought me to a place,
a place of pleasure and pain.

In a crowded conference room, in a
different country, I never thought we
would meet face to face,
And that I would be unable to speak
as my words refused to flow,
So, step by step, I moved away as
time said,” This is not the time or place,
 so continue with the show”.
Feelings of turmoil took over as
the awareness began to sink in,
Both not knowing what the other
was thinking,

In a shocked and confused state,
my soul strangely felt a sense of relief,
My eyes felt refreshed, and my heart
was racing.
At last, the long-awaited reunion
seemed possible,
But some commitments just couldn’t
be broken,
And our dream would again be frozen,

It wasn’t written in our destiny,
as again up came that invisible bar,
And once more the little voice whispered,
So near yet still so far.

This is a splendid poem about love lost. I enjoyed the story, albeit sad.
