So It Is You

So it is you who will impart
her soft, sweet scent of breath
in one transcendent journey over time and space
to reach me here, suggesting to my heart
and to my hungry mind,
that there is more than substance
to the air I breathe,
more than longing when I think of you
so far away from me, but closer than a kiss.
I cannot seize a gift like that, but only in
humility receive it, for in its creation
you have stolen of yourself
and made it part of me.

Kisses there will be upon the cyber waves,
and unsurpassed in sweetness, yet
in this vapor floating now within me,
I may see an altar to a love
that no one else may see or know,
for it made travesty of journeying
in just a single cosmic flight
that joined an I to you
and wrapped your gift forever unconsumed
in one eternal flame.
