So Alone
A shadow falls over the keyboard as I pound on them
Silence serenading the pages
As I head to the kitchen my shadow follows me
Grim specter of the ages
I head to the porch to shovel the early morning snow
Trusty shadow in tow
The porch, the driveway, the walkway, the steps all clean
Only my shadow will know
I walk to the post office, my shadow leading the way
Silent comrade through all
The grocery store, the mall, to pick up my lunch
My shadow answers the call
My hand casts a shadow as I reach towards the wall
To answer the ringing phone
Everywhere I look or go my shadow’s by my side
My God I’m so alone
