Snow White Impurities

the outside floated inside
white seeds seemed fluff
floating & frolicsome
until their rooted relic
of bitter dandelion wine
wished we hurried
to busy our bones
do something thoughtful.
yes..we’d pluck a stem
or two and gift
but this gift in ever after
would list and wither
so quickly amidst
the coiffer of quarrels
pushing of the dander
of matters we stuffed
our pillows with at night
nightmare of nettled
never-never disappears
snow white impurities
implicated our insides
empty and forlorn
forgetting our vows
our impertinence
of the importance
of marital bliss
which doesn’t begin
with tricks and treats
but with travails
that lead to immemorial
memories and progeny
a long lasting kiss

carry your wife
over
the threshold barrier
don’t let complacency enter
let a garden of delights
bloom within
learn from occasional weeds
pluck…let sun in…water
tender your every day kiss
invite in joy and praise

Very beautiful Kim! When you have the testimony of 45 years of marriage there is proof in your wisdom penned in this precious poem. My husband and I have 47 years together, our 48th is coming up this summer. Congratulations on 45 years! Great poem and testimony of true love :) <3

I’m so sorry for your heartbreak. We had our ups and downs, but I do cling to my faith in Christ. Marriage takes two to love. Important to let go of bitterness. I feel blessed not because I deserve it or made it happen. I prayed and continued to love. You will grieve this loss. I pray God’s comfort and that one day you will be able to chance love. Again, I am so sorry ((hugs))

Thank you, Ink! I was 19 and hubby was 20. Crazy! Went into the service, not with the intention of marrying. My boyfriend (then) showed me a ring in commissary, kept asking me to marry him. It was when I thought I would say no, I knew I wanted to. Ups and downs throughout but better and better as we grow older. Thankful and blessed. ((hugs))
