- Small Steps Walks Carefully X 2 -

NEW

    Hush my little child
    No more tears
    Your mother and father
    will be your guide
    Beautiful as an angel
    Fragile as glass
    Like a little bird
    that will learn to fly
    Sleep now my child
    Dream about tomorrow
Angels of the night cradles you
On the path to the dream of paradise
there is no fear of the dark
    Small Steps Walks Carefully
    Tomorrow is a new day
    together we will be
Dear child one day you will be brave

    OLD

    An old man
He is more than 80 years
    Alone - His wife's death
Sitting in his chair - has difficulty walking
    Small Steps Walks Carefully
The phone marks with red tape on number one
Number one is his daughter's number
    He remember that
Diapers Size X-Large, he sits in his chair
Evening comes - the old man is tired
He is not afraid of the dark
    But loneliness is painful
    Small Steps Walks Carefully
    He has his dreams
Wakes up in the middle of the night
and look at the stars and the moon
    Tomorrow is a new day
    Alone

    Life ....

I like this poem it very true to life, it reminds me of my father in law, he was so alone before he moved in with us, he stayed with us for almost seven years but he use to tell me about the loneliness before he moved in. It's a sad state of affairs in this country for so many of our elderly. This is a poem that brings this situation to life, and I hope it's read by alot of people, maybe it would change a few closed minds, cheri

Love the contrast between birth and old age. The first part when a baby is just starting out everything is gotten for it and it is soft and cute and gentle but then old age and harshness of what life has done over the years comes into play. A thing called Life. Well done. love phyl

Both of these are awesome poems. We first have to take small steps, before we learn to take giant steps. Thanks for sharing... Lucilla

In childhood life parents provide guidance and in the old age he remains alone after being there his children who are married. In both the stages he walks carefully to see the new dawn. This is the real journey of life of expectation. Loved your poem, my lovely friend. Loved always, bl

Ohh, both are precious as we are all precious. We have to tread carefully as life is fragil. People are fragile even though they like to think not. Just like we think not.

Dear Anne-Lise, I love the way you use the repeating phrase to focus on both youth and old age. Indeed, older people often lead lonely lives, but children have a lifetime before them. Awesome work, dear. Love, carolyn
