Slow Motion Freeze
Why must I listen to grinding metal sounds
shouting insults at my ancestors?
Where have the sweet pink peonies gone,
that came up every year around Grandmother's house?
I know the yellow roses you were so thrilled to give
me have changed-
Every time I pick up the telephone, all I hear
are freight trains, rushing through thunderstorms,
hoping to catch a break in the clouds.
Feelings, hurt so easily, or too many times,
don't bother me so much in the winter,
In the bitter
cold
In, the bitter cold...
