Slipping Into a Dream
I am slipping into a dream
and floating away
for dreams are guests who come unbidden
and I hear a throbbing beat
and see deep blue ocean waves
and I am rolling, rolling with the current
till I reach a rocky shore
and the mist is swelling around me
and I am swaying to nature's music
the waves crashing again
again on the mossy rocks
and seagulls wail like trumpets
as my filmy dress billows
untamed
and I am spinning, twirling
arms outstretched
my hair flowing, flowing
soft as a spiderweb
then I am flying with the birds
drifting and gliding
and the mist swirls and swirls
it smells of the deep ocean
oh, I am detached from all reality
and love it
I never want to leave this illusion
but my dream is fading, fading
with only a fine thread lingering
and brushstrokes of color
streak the dusty sky of morning ...
