Sleeptalking
There’s a quiet in watching myself sleep
Like a buzz , a drone of calm abandon
Gently passing this fluid ocean , deep
Past reeds and tall grasses that slither on
To unknown whispering or gushing tide--
A current, steady as unconscious sigh
Rivering through the swooshes of my glide,
To bring rest from a wired day..I slip by.
Across glittering shorelines in moon’s flow;
My breaths bid me closer in an embrace
While I lie here in your summer, aglow
As whispers talk in lapses about grace.
Till after midnight, we both cuddle peace
For the drawl of evening pulls me, astir
Where in your arms- soft murmurs-- find release
Through a space between awareness and blur.
