Sleeps Slave
Sleep,
Why is it that you always get the better of us?
Why do you always win?
Every time I close my eyes,
you steal me away,
you are always lurking around,
ready to pounce on me,
when I least expect it.
You are like a rude guest,
knocking at my door,
you don’t wait for me to answer,
you just let yourself in.
You do as you please,
you don’t care about my schedule,
you just snatch me,
whenever you feel like it.
You interrupt me when I’m watching,
my favourite program,
you cause me to fail,
because you take me away,
when I’m studying for my test late at night.
You rule our lives,
others have already submitted to your power,
but I will never be your slave,
I will never kneel before you,
you will NOT win me over.
I choose to do something,
more profitable with my time,
but before I do,
let me just rest my eyes for a few seconds…
