Sleeper
Throw the dishes, close the drawer.
shut the cupboard, slam the door.
Raise your voice, holler loud.
The kids are sleeping, it's ok to yell.
Angry parents don't stop to think,
Loud and righteous in a blink.
Children cower in shadows dark.
They don't hear you, or so you think.
Once a happy family home,
any room was a place to roam.
The lights once bright now going dim,
arguments abundant, an everyday whim.
Listen now to the silence so great,
a pin could drop no sound would it make.
You forgot the adage that children hear,
remember that and fear, what you didn't know was near.
