Sleep Punching
The dark of night
My body lay dormant on cotton white
The feeling of falling but did not wake
For want to sleep for sleeping’s sake
It then arose
A sense while sleeping, I then had froze
I knew at the moment I’d open my eyes
For a pain had come, now paralyzed
It was a hand
Why in the night she had slapped this man
I did not know, she was still fast a sleep
So I rolled back again without making a peep
Come the morn
I asked her why her feelings were torn
She said she knew not what she did
However, this black eye could not be hid
