Skeptics Rule

You would think fortune tellers would know,
for their crystal balls would surely show;
so on Mondays weekly,
why don’t we get to see,
the headlines read psychic wins lotto.

Ha-ha Andrea … perhaps that's it - but not bloody likely. I think their only oath is to relieve us of our life savings - thanks Andrea - Lindsay

Hi Lindsay, I went to a fortune teller when I was a teenager. At that age we are all love struck with our teenage boy or girl friend, and she more or less told me what I wanted to hear, so I kept going back for a few days, one day I arrived and her caravan was gone, she had milked our suburb enough and moved on, a true gypsy! I do read my Virgo horoscope sometimes however (not that I believe it!) A fun write. Kind regards, Jennifer.

Hello Jennifer ... correct, you tell them, and it's echoed back to you and you can't believe how accurate they are. They can sell sand to the Arabs - thanks Jennifer - Lindsay

Lindsay, I can give you some specifics. This broker cold called me telling me that Euro Disney is a great stock to own--all the bad news is over, and they are set to open and make tons of money. We discussed this since I was in a charitable mood. I was on the phone for a half hour. If it was that good, why would they be hawking it to me? Needless to say, Euro Disney declared bankruptcy shortly thereafter. What a bunch of snake oil salesmen everywhere!!

G'day Harry … thanks for commenting. I think the trick is, without realizing, the mark tells the psychic first and it's retold back in a different format having the mark believe what they are told - I guess it's an art form - thanks Harry - Lindsay

As I recall the big Poseidon winner back in 1970 was a 12-year-old boy with no crystal, but not shy of balls? Aloha! Rico

Hey there Rico … I do recall the Poseidon share business here, and many lost their life savings; but that's the gamble - thanks Mate - Lindsay

Perhaps that headline will never be because to a psychic, numbers often have a different meaning? Anyway, well penned.

Hello M. L. … I guess they'll do anything to justify their means, but then again, many people find comfort in being informed, so that's not an entirely bad thing at all - thank you M.L. - Lindsay

Hahaha. Yes, why do they have to resort to a 10 dollar palm reading? I often think the same thing when a broker tries to sell me a great stock. If it’s that great why don’t you buy it all?

G'day Duke … it's the same with a tip on racehorses. They can't lose 'cause it came straight from the horses mouth - thanks Duke - Lindsay
