Skeletons

Skeletons Oh, skeletons have always lurked Into the closets of all faiths From millenniums to present day Deities have justified The slavery of all savaged souls Armenians a million fold A genocide that was denied The Ottomans fulfilled their toll Especially the chosen ones A demagogue had made a choice to rid the world of Jewish life rife with prejudice and hate reviled and starved until they died Subjected to the Devil’s Dens Where concentration camps abound A sign that said Arbeit Macht Frei which meant that work will set you free to die in that vicinity and used as human guinea pigs By Demon doctors and their peers A Holocaust that came to be A final solution to speed their cause Of gas and ovens in the wake Finally freed to seek a new land The last diaspora would end Heroes had come in unity To forge a land called Israel A promised land that has no fear The world moves on with sadder schemes On Muslims with their tragedies from political gods with no idea What they profess of God and Love To offer prayers five times a day Then maim and kill so wantonly A brotherhood that shares their creed Misunderstood by common man God’s will to man has been destroyed For skeletons will always lurk into the closets of all faiths My take on the Holocaust Contest Sponsored by The Seeker October 12, 2016

Quite unique take, the last stanza is hauntingly killer, pun intended.

And lurk they will to never change, it will always be a part of each and every one. Your poem speaks of the sadness and hate that constantly grows whether the closet door is opened or closed. Very deeply expressed.

Thank you , Chris. I've grown old enough to know that the human psyche never changes.

Very poignantly portrayed, there are times evil can't be stopped until it's too late to save mankind.
