Sixty Minutes

There was nothing to lose
So I could go on a spending spree,
Get parting presents for everyone I knew,
Blow a fortune at a casino,
Give my boss a piece of my mind.

I had just sixty precious minutes left
And realised all I really wanted
Was to spend time with my wife.
Telling her I’d love her forever more,
Holding her close, I shut my eyes
And waited for the end.

hmmm...hadn't thought about the boss thing. interesting thought for sure! but i do love how you realized where it was you should be. the frivolous beginning thoughts make your ending more powerful. congratulations on your win!

WoW! A good way to spend those last minutes. While you're holding your wife close and telling her you love her better say a prayer too.;) Bet that's what would go through most people's mind. God Bless, JB

Powerful write on the end... like the casino line, plus the boss one also... Pleasure to read your work today...Michael
