Sitting In The Dark, With Darkness Covering Me Sitting in the dark, hearing voices in the hall remembering my many lovers, one and all. Some that sent my heart aloft, on heavenly flights others that kept me company on lonely nights. Sitting in the dark, seeing true beauties once known then, the fairest of gardens, never overgrown. Night waning, those echoes, their honey-drenching calls also remind me, of my many faults and falls! Sitting in the dark, with darkness covering me begging each, please forgive me, what I did to thee. Silence, as each lover then slowly fades away Ah yes, we mortals, for our sins we have to pay! Dawn's morning rays, broke me from that dreaming trance. Were we wrong seeking too much in youthful romance? Robert J. Hello Robert, A most excellent sonnet that's demonstratively laden with soulful imagery and complex emotions!! Yes, the vagaries youthful romance do have a way in populating our consciousness, at times, as we each grow older. I enjoyed this one immensely!! Superbly-Done!! A FAVE!! Best Wishes, Gary

Wow! Robert, too much pain and dark pondering covered with beauty! You are a beautiful soul with an open mind and heart.. so hash on yourself! and that is the case of souls of faith and grace.. those who seek perfection and perpetual peace of mind.. the closing couplet is amazing! We are now who we are because of those years of youth, wrong doings, sins.. we acquire wisdom because of our continuous growth and awareness.. Enormously beautiful and great is your Sonnet! A gem and FAV! Be blessed.

Thank you my very good friend. I think you are correct-in that love , especially in our youth pays many visits until we fall into the depths of a true and glorious love that never leaves us.

I don't think so...Life is too short...even a sad love is better than no love at all...All the best Robert

Thank you my good friend. Yes, but in the quest if too many beautiful and lovely hearts are broken, what then? Does Life and this World bear the responsibility or does the individual doing the damage while seeking a true soulmate? Thank you for commenting my friend.
