The poem is very nice, but it is not qasida. As a rule, qasida is longer than ghazal(15-60 couplets), but it follows the same system of rhymes (AA-BA-CA-DA...). Check the definition and examples.

When I saw the title I thought this was going to be about a dog, called Qasida, then I sat some more and thought that's a funny name for a dog, so I sat some more and I .............. pondered. haha. Take care, Richard

Yep. You pinned it. I have to admit that lived it for many decades, some might question my method, but I learned a lot during those days, things not taught in any school. Now I mostly sit and reminisce on my past and writer about them in my poem.
