Sister
A great big smile crossed my face,
As a baby girl lay in her place.
Mommy said, "You have a Baby sister".
Now if she left I would surely miss her.
She started to walk as I held her hand
I'd tell her we're off to visit wonderland.
When she'd speak I'd laugh at her new sound.
Then she would cry and fall onto the ground.
We'd always play house in the back yard.
We'd play 'Old Maid' when dealing cards.
Seems it wasn't long and she's as big as me
Now we shared cookies and a warm cup of tea.
Then wouldn't you know it we grew into teens
You wore my sweaters, I wore your jeans.
I hated your boyfriend from the hood
But you found another, ambitious and good.
We shared many secrets, got married too.
We've grown older, what can we do?
Keep loving each other as the years go by,
The next time we meet may be in the sky.
