Sir May I See Your Daughter-
I was outside her house as I open the gate
walking through the trellis
I approached the steps
I look up and I sigh
As breathe and anxiety
I have arrived I am looking so
in part for her open heart
but I might embrace her pains as I call her name
I go up the steps to the right of me
A porch swing now i knock on the door
and it opens and her father appears
I say how are you sir may I see your daughter
he glares at me he towers over me
he looks I appear to be quivering
but I inhale I exhale the fear away
still I stand at ease now
And I won't back down this day
he said what is your intent with my girl
why are you here
I tell him sir I want to get to know her
but in this I reveal may I approach you sir
with all due respect I love your daughter sir
but this you must get I trust your heart sir
that I shall display a Godly gentlemanly foray
I want to rest in you sir and give you no doubts
I want nothing but the best for your daughter's heart
so may I prove myself to you and be doodly bound
I so know that her heart is God's first yours and your wives
and I want to earn it may I sir be yours first may I earn your trust
My future dreams and desire
Only if it's God's will and your blessing years and years away
I want her hand in marriage the father says Boy I admire your courage
You're astute standing you're just a boy trying to be a man
I got my eye on you so within your honesty
If you be real with me we'll see what the future hold but keeping your memory
This is our girl so you're on probation
Ain't no messing around with my darling child
So if you think you're interested you must confess this
My eye will be on you so watch what you do just be true I'll give you the clue
Remember first this is our girl and maybe one day would loan her to you
