Listen to poem:
high atop a hill it stood there a bastion of memories fortress tired and disheveled standing in solemn silence keeper of our secrets complicit our love not meant to be doomed from the start one day the verdict handed down guilty by association imploded and in a blink there it was gone all but the memories

Thanks, Constance. Not only did I work there for a while, I also lived right around the corner from it for many years ~

Hi Line! I just had to look up what the building housed in order to put some context to the poem. "..located along Carling Avenue at the Central Experimental Farm, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and until 2010 was the headquarters of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.." ..It obviously meant and symbolised much more to you than that. Great poem Line :) Cheers - Gary

I worked there many years a long long time ago ~ thank you so much for being intrigued enough to look it up, Gary. Most appreciated ~

My, just look at the image of the implosion! We seem to tear down some of our best designed older buildings. Sad to see this happen. Great write, Line. Congratulations on a second place in the contest! Best wishes, Carolyn

Thanks Carolyn. Apparently the building was on a fault line and minor earthquakes were relatively frequent.
