Going strictly by the scriptures We are told we have sinned long ago Thus, fallen status is this feeble caricature Maya indeed veils the truth but our heart is aglow Head and heart aligned, we are free from strife Once attachments recede, life flow is mellow Sermons of preachers cut us like a knife Designed to burden us with superstitious guilt For our sin, Jesus gave up his life, Buddha his wife It seems impossible that this is the house God has built Anchoring our attention in spasms of contraction Delusion that we have sinned making us wilt Our innate nature is joyous bliss elation The only sin we see is with love misalignment Owing to indulgence in illusion causing stagnation Let us unshackle consciousness from feral sediment Reclaiming by free will our childlike innocence Flowing then through life in contentment God is truth! God is love! He asks for no penance We are free! We are as He! Being of self-luminescence 27-April-2021

From my non religious point of view, how can a new born baby carry its forebears sin, it reminds me of some old social traditions where you could not belong to a certain guild, unless your parents held that privilege, a kind of caste system, your excellent poem begs these valid questions, cheers David

Exactly. However, do expect strong resistance to this view, not going down well with those following formatted religion, be it of any school. When we, mere mortals, can forgive our transgressors unconditionally, surely God can and will do a million times more.

Indeed, "God is truth! God is love!" Yet He in His truth does not tolerate sin; and He in His love suffered to pay for our sins so we can enjoy freedom in Him. I agree with Victor's " Yes God is compassionate, but repentance for what wrong we did is necessary." By the way, thanks for my placement in your recently judged contest. God bless you.

I did hesitate before writing this piece, knowing it may not be well received, since most religions seek to enslave us from birth that we are sinners. What is our sin?

You put in quite an argumentative poem. Not all will agree. Sin is breaking any of the ten commandments given by God to Moses. Yes God is compassionate, but repentance for what wrong we did is necessary.

The truth is both unapologetic as well as inconvenient. Pray tell, what is our sin?
