Simple Man

I am a simple man
With pen in hand

I have no big words or metaphor
All I have is poetry I adore

I write how I feel
I hope you feel what I write

If we all could feel one another
We would be alright

I don't chase gold
Only the blank paper

To fill it is such an exciting caper.

Don't mistake me for a saint
I ain't.

Just a simple man
With words I like to paint

Think of the bluest sky
The greenest pasture

This is what I hope to capture.

Though all I can do is trace
What God has already graced

So who am I?

I'm a simple man
And troubles I have faced..
