Silhouette of a Bird
The cheeky bird was nestled in the tree
Among almond blossoms of pinkish white,
Juxtaposed betwixt the blue sky and me.
The twigged tree was a leafless delight,
Abloom in spring with branches swaying free;
Till the brown bird did on a twig alight.
Brown branch, pale blue sky and dusky feather,
Spoggy silhouette in the spring weather.
("Spoggy" is Australian slang for Sparrow.)
