Silent Partner

It doesn’t pay to think too much when chatting is required An open mind is where the most amazing lines are sired No one ever spoke about a host of daffodils Whilst ‘Head Office’ was ranting, “Look, there’s zombies in the hills!” For watching TV, side by side, the notion in my head Would disappear like fairy dust if just one word you said So I will nod and smile while clinging to my latest thread Until you, my darling wife, have gone off up to bed For only then can I explore each nuance and express My feelings of euphoria or even of distress My darling, I’m quite certain that you know I love you dearly But, if you had an on/off switch then I could think more clearly

Thanks, Arthur. Fortunately, Annie knows I usually write from another’s perspective. Besides… $25 would procure a decent bouquet to accompany my grovelling apology. ;-)

Love this, Terry. Careful what you wish for, partners could be silent but deadly (lol). Charlie

To be fair it was an on AND off switch! In reality, I truly don’t try to write unless I’m alone, whether I’m sat for the evening or mowing a lawn or whatever. All in jest of course, Charlie. Terry

Shared with the wrong people it could be. I’m sure Annie enjoys your poetry as much as I do. At least those you share with her. ;-)

Annie doesn’t know my Soup password… phew! Actually, she would find it amusing, but a little bit of her would wonder if I meant it, which, of course, I don’t. Pure fiction… although… a train of thought can be a tenuous thing. ;-)
