Silent Night
Silent NIGHT
The silence of the night is broken
By moans and screams
Of a young girl
Enduring the pains of birth
For her first time.
A Newborn child’s cries
Echo through the stillness
The mother holds her baby
To her trembling breast.
A husband sings for joy.
An explosion of light
Blasts across the sheep
And shepherds scream in fear.
Angels announce the birth.
Multitudes of angels proclaiming,
“Peace on earth and goodwill toward men.
Shepherds pounding feet race to discover the child
In the manger, among singing, praying, and shouts of joy.
Shepherd voices loudly report all they have seen to all who will listen.
All is calm.
All is bright.
Silent Night.
