Silent Cry

A battered child I am;
				Bruised all over my frail body;
				I have longed to be cared for
				And yet they choose to ignore.

				My pleadings are useless;
				My cries won’t help.
				Be quiet, heart!
				Let silence be your drug.

This poem captures the viewpoint of an abused child, who with nowhere to turn, no advocate, must turn inward and let silence be her drug that tries to block the pain. This is very much what is experienced by so many children who don't have a voice on their own behalf. Nice work! I am new here too :)

Sorry but your prurient comment is in poor taste, as this poem portrays the helplessness of an abuse victim. (You should probably apologize to the poet, just saying...)
