Silence Crashed Gray

Silence crashed gray ‘round me in jarring strikes. news glued me undone ~ chilled shade blued my sun Mere seconds flogged me numb with scarring spikes. your mind failed its start ~ I bore a shelled heart
We two had overturned set stones to deep-learn. We partnered our uniqueness to bloom our yearn. I rushed to your bedside …
Blocking mental ills, pills trapped you within. I wore my softness ~ you trip-talked nonsense Your eyes would never more answer your grin. we used to free dance ~ your sweet eyes loved chance
Your soul art shaped my adult themes, our wings had barely spread from our teen dreams. We had always gentled the other’s twin stream. I rushed to your bedside … where my heart first slow died

I understand this one! My dear wife battled mental illness for 25 years. It is so hard to see it/have to watch it. Such a beautiful poem about the experience. Such a hard experience! It is always the memory of the love that is there, but is just hidden, sometimes, that keeps us going! God Bless You!

Yes, you know then; I'm sure a lot of your 'growth' came from the experiences you had with your wife. I care for my bi-polar brother, and the poem is about my best friend, senior year of high school. I know that all the people we refer to are/were on their own human journey and for reasons beyond our human ability, despite appearances, all things were/are in divine order. More than your wife, more than my brother and friend, all three are God's children. Still, it hurts, I know. Thank you, Andrew - hugging you in 'relation'. Be golden ... CayCay

Didn't mean to make you tear up - well, maybe I did. After I graduated from high school, my best friend and I both moved with our families, but we kept in touch and after a year, I learned she was moving to where I lived. I was so excited but upon their arrival, her Mother called me to say my friend had been admitted to a mental ward. It was a major emotional crash for me - I can still feel it. Thanks for your comments and good luck with all your writing today. Hope you are mending PERFECTLY. CayCay
