Silence

My heart longs for silence
A place to hide from the never ending noise
The yelling, the shouting
This heavy weight is over-bearing

This lethal sound rings in my ears
Driving me to the point of insanity
I yearn for an isolated serenity
Where the sound of silence is welcoming

The white noise drags me down
Always telling me who to be
I asked for the gift of silence
So that I can be free to be me
