Silence

Silence, above the white and soundless space
Where nothing moves in light, a wintry waste
Anesthetized, carved from the climate cold
Made bare the world, and left alone my soul
Nor bird, nor cloud, nor breakers far away
It seems creation had not begin, yet
Everywhere the stiff soft pallor of death
Not black, but empty white this final clay

And then I heard through eyes alone, the sweet
Serenade of symphonies, silence pure
And time absolute, all things here did meet
And through vast nothing rolls the unheard score
Muting soul and universe into one truth
All being is one and God absolute
